Porsche Registers the "919" Moniker

Porsche Registers the "919" Moniker gassguzzler

A few weeks ago it was reported that Porsche was preparing to add a new sports car to its lineup. It has also been rumored that the new model — set to be placed between the 911 and the 918 — will be called the 961. The latter rumor may not come to fruition, as Porsche has just registered the "919" name at a German patent office. The new combination of numbers is listed as a "word mark,” meaning that it will be used in an upcoming production model.
What we cannot tell for sure is if this newly trademarked model is indeed the long-rumored sports car. The uncertainty seeps in because the "919" name make us think of a model placed above the 918, not between the 911 and 918.
The "919" name was registered in October and in the past few days it was entered in the patent register. We expect to hear more details about this new model in the upcoming months, so stay tuned!

Porsche 911/991 Attack by Anibal Automotive Design

Porsche 911/991 Attack by Anibal Automotive Design gassguzzler

It’s been a while since we last heard from Anibal Automotive Design, but every time they revisit their series of Attack models and the aero kits fitted into them, we can’t help but wonder why this Montreal-based tuner doesn’t do more programs like this.
In any case, we’ll take whatever they dish out any way we can get it. So when they released their new Attack program for the Porsche 911, we stood up and took notice. The aerodynamic kit includes components built straight out of carbon fiber. There’s also a striking contrast on the sports car’s body, particularly the utilization of a silver finish on the body to go with a black carbon fiber hood.
As an added touch to the striking and downright stunning aero kit, Anibal Automotive Design added a new set of multi-spoke wheels to the 911.
According to Hani Harfouche, CEO and designer at Anibal Automotive Design, the Porsche 911 Attack is already scheduled for production. No concrete date has been announced for when the cars will go on sale, but we’ll keep a close eye on when these amazing Porsche 911s are ready to be taken home.

Porsche Boxster S "SP81-R" by SpeedART

Porsche Boxster S "SP81-R" by SpeedART gassguzzler

With so many Porsche programs being released recently, German tuner SpeedArt isn’t keeping quiet because, lo and behold, they have their own newly revealed package for the mighty little rocket of the Porsche line-up, the Boxster S.
The program is actually a new take on the tuner’s SP81-R program and it comes with a comprehensive aerodynamic package. There’s a new lower front spoiler that makes the Boxster’s front profile look like it’s ready to eat you alive. A diffuser section for the rear bumper has also been added, as was an elevated wing that attaches itself to the stock wing fitted on the Boxster. There are also new clear-coated carbon fiber side sections for the doors and air intakes and finally, a new set of 20" or 21" Multi-piece Light Spoker Competition forged alloy wheels to round out the exterior modifications. Inside, SpeedArt kept the upgrades in check, opting only to finish the carbon with healthy doses of fine leather and Alcantara.
Then there’s the power upgrade, which, if you think about it, isn’t much. The addition of a performance exhaust system with manifolds, sports catalysts and silencer with twin 100 mm tailpipes, and an optional damper system nets the Boxster S an increased output of just 20 horsepower and 14 lb/ft of torque. All told, the SpeedArt SP81-R program provides the Porsche roadster with 335 horsepower and 280 lb/ft of torque, an increase from the 315 horsepower and 266 lb/ft of torque output of the stock Boxster S model.

Porsche 911 GT2 RS by Wimmer Rennsporttechnik

Porsche 911 GT2 RS by Wimmer Rennsporttechnik gassguzzler

With only 500 units built and a total of 620 HP under the hood, the Porsche 911 GT2 RS is a car that many auto enthusiasts dream about. This is evident in the fact that, although it is priced at €237,578 (about $310,000 at the current exchange rates), the GT2 RS sold out almost instantly. Lucky for us, Wimmer Racing Technology grabbed on to one of the units and then updated it "a little bit."
Since the 911 GT2 RS is such an impressive car, Wimmer opted to leave the exterior as is and focused on the engine instead. Two optimized Wimmer turbochargers were added, as was an optimization of the air induction, sports camshafts and crankshaft, timing chains, machined cylinder heads, pistons and connecting rods, a fuel pump unit, two manifolds with bypass, and two 200 cell sport catalysts. As a result, the six-cylinder boxer engine now delivers an amazing 1,020 HP and 817 lb-ft of torque. With the extra 400 HP, the GT2 RS will sprint from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.4 seconds, to 124 mph in 8.7 seconds, and hit a top speed of 180 mph (however, the top speed indicator shows an amazing 241 mph).

In order to handle the extra power, the Porsche 911 GT2 RS has been equipped with a new set of custom-designed 19" wheels in combination with a 3-way adjustable Competition-suspension from KW.

Porsche 911 GT3 GTurbo by 9ff

Porsche 911 GT3 GTurbo by 9ff gassguzzler

Who would have ever thought of extracting 1200hp from a 3.8L F6 powered Porsche 911 GT3? Well, now we know that thought has crossed the minds of known German tuners 9ff. Recently, 9ff announced the GTurbo (Goosebumps), a Porsche 911/997 GT3 with 1200hp and 1,150Nm (848 lb-ft) of torque, easily making it one of most powerful Porsches ever built.
Want to know what the stratospheric upgrade can do? It can warp you from 0-60mph in only 3.2sec and flat-out, it can do 250mph. That’s mind-boggling for a Porsche 911 or, as Jeremy Clarkson would call it, a Beetle!
All this unnecessary power comes from a 3.8L flat six that has been up-sized to 3.9L. To increase the oomph, 9ff installed a Garrett GT1200R turbocharger with ball bearings and water-cooling. The operation of the turbocharger can be controlled from the steering wheel, where the driver has the option to select from 0.8 bar, 1.2 bar and 1.6 bar, hence adjusting the power output from 600 horsepower to a maximum 1200 horsepower. Good to know that the monster is, in a way, leashed.
The power is sent to rear wheels via a standard 997 GT3 6-speed manual tranny with reinforced gears, so that it doesn’t snap while transferring the extra power. Handling is improved with the installation of a limited slip differential and an adjustable 9ff / Bilstein suspension system with aluminum shocks, 60mm race springs, rigid aluminum top mounts front, reinforced wishbone suspension, lighter hydraulic power steering, and an adjustable stabilizer for the front and rear axles.

With the race-level spec sheet, you might all classify it as race-legal only. Surprisingly, the GTurbo is a street-legal car with an asking price of $455,000.
So would you dream of owning a GTurbo 1200 or think it’s too crazy and impractical to drive one? Let us know in the comments section below.

Porsche Panamera GTM by Misha Designs gassguzzler

The rest of the kit will be the same regardless of the width chosen. It will include a new front bumper with a gloss black lip and large air intakes, new front wings, new side skirts, flared rear arches, a big rear diffuser, a new roof spoiler, and a new decklid spoiler.

More details on the Porsche Panamera GTM by Misha Designs will be released during the 2012 SEMA Auto Show, so stay tuned!

Porsche Cayenne Turbo S

Porsche Cayenne Turbo S gassguzzler

In 2006, Porsche added the Turbo S trim level to its Cayenne lineup, which brought the sport SUV’s already impressive output up to 520 horsepower. The 2007 model year was a one-year break for the Cayenne and when it returned in 2008, the Turbo S was not offered, but it did return again for the 2009 and 2010 model years. It looks like Porsche is going to try again, as it just announced that the Turbo S will make its triumphant return in the 2013 model year.
Much like the 911 Turbo S, the Cayenne Turbo S will share most of its styling and DNA with the step-down Turbo model. The biggest changes between the Turbo and Turbo S models will be some basic creature comfort additions, handling and braking changes, and most importantly, more power!
With the world of performance SUVs starting to get slightly crowded, how well can the top-line Cayenne Turbo S do in this quickly flooding marketplace? Does it really have enough additions over the Turbo model to constitute a price hike and how much is the price hike?

Barely Disguised Porsche 911 Turbo Caught Testing

There have been tons of spy images of the upcoming Porsche 911/991 Turbo, but unfortunately, all of those images have had a camouflage-donning prototype. Now, however, a very lucky guy managed to catch the next Porsche Turbo testing on the streets of Stuttgart in Germany wearing almost nothing in terms of camouflage.
The upcoming Porsche 911 Turbo will be powered by a twin-turbo six-cylinder engine that will deliver about 540 HP. The engine will be mated to a standard manual gearbox, but the PDK will also be offered as an option. The model will also be offered with a four-wheel steering system that will work in conjunction with the car’s all-wheel drive system.
The upcoming Porsche 911/991 Turbo will be making its world debut at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show. Sales will begin shortly thereafter.

Porsche Cayenne Coupe by Merdad Collection

Porsche Cayenne Coupe Merdad Collection gassguzzler

Lovers of Porsche, but haters of the Cayenne may finally have a reason to see past the SUV features of the vehicle now that Merdad Collection has taken a chance on it. The English tuner has just revealed their newest package that consists of chopping off the two rear doors of the Cayenne and giving it a little more power to boot.
The new Porsche Cayenne Coupe was given its name after the company removed the rear doors and moved the B-pillars further back in order to accommodate the new, 20 mm longer front doors. These new doors were then equipped with safety glass to better protect the passengers inside. Other modifications to the exterior include a wide body package with a new mesh grille and spoiler, wheel arch extensions, side skirts and door moldings, a rear skirt with diffuser, and a carbon fiber hood with integrated vents. The car now sits on a new set of 22" wheels combined with an electronic suspension module which lowers the car by 40 mm. The interior also received some modifications in the way of four new sport seats with carbon fiber shells and electronic tilting. Other customizations can be had upon each customer’s request.
The power upgrade was provided with the addition of larger turbocharger units for the 4.8-liter V8 engine, new manifolds and exhaust, a sport air filter, a revised air intake system, and optimized ECU software. The result is an increase from the standard 500 HP up to 670 HP. The 0 to 60 mph is now made in 4.4 seconds and top speed goes up to more than 186 mph.

Porsche 911 Cabriolet GT by Gemballa

Porsche tuner extraordinaire Gemballa knows Porsche models like the back of their hand. So it comes as no surprise that Gemballa’s latest program, one involving the 911 Cabriolet, is a sight to behold.
Now, the truth of the matter is, their program is exclusively an aerodynamic package; no performance mods on this one. But that’s ok, because they did such a wonderful job with the bodykit that you’ll barely notice its lack of improved performance.
Constructed mainly out of carbon fiber, Gemballa’s GT package for the 911 Cabriolet includes an aggressive front bumper with three large air intakes and an integrated spoiler. It also has deep side skirts, a new rear bumper that comes with vertical reflectors, and a lower section with outlets. These outlets are present to accommodate six tailpipes that are part of the new sport exhaust system with valve control. Finally, the 911 Cabriolet has been fitted with a new set of 21" GForged-one alloy wheels that can be specified in a choice of two finishes - diamond cut or gunmetal.

For the whole program, customers will have to shell out €19,860, which is about $26,000 based on current exchange rates. Customers must then add €9,895 ($13,000) for the tire set-up.

Lindsay Lohan Slams a Rental Porsche into a Semi-Truck

Celebrity Edition!! Per a report from TMZ, oft-troubled actress, Lindsay Lohan, learned that an 18-wheeler always wins against a Porsche 911. While driving down the Pacific Coast Highway in Santa Monica, Lohan managed to plant the front end of her rented – yes, RENTED – Porsche 911 into the backside of an 18-wheeler.
Don’t worry, your favorite teen star gone awry is A-okay, as she went to the hospital for tests and was released shortly afterward. According to reports, she heading to the set of the TV show she is surprisingly starring in, “Liz & Dick,” when she smashed the Porsche into small bits of $100K plastic, metal, and rubber, and she is now on the set and in good health.
According to reports, Lohan is claiming that the accident was not her fault and that the 18-wheeler cut her off. Looking at the accident scene, we really don’t see how an 18-wheeler could possibly cut someone off and not leave enough time for the driver to respond. Unless, of course, she was driving really, really, REALLY fast. But, we’re not here to judge, we are simply stating what we can see from the images. We are certain that this is not the last we will hear about this accident.
We are all glad to hear she is in good shape, so we can all continue on our normal path of ignoring any piece of work that she happens to be in…
